First of all can I just say Banff National Park is one of the most epic places in the world; if you haven’t added it to you bucket list you should do so right away. Garrett and Rachel are both dear friends of mine who are also fellow wedding photographers. It was no surprise when they told me that they wanted to have an intimate destination wedding in the most beautiful national park on earth due to their love for travel and adventure. But the best moment of all was when they asked ME to capture it. I was absolutely honored and beyond excited to be a part of such a special weekend with such wonderful people. Every single moment of their day was so intentional and meaningful.
I can’t help but to share a few of my favorites memories from the weekend…
– Garrett and Rachel were surrounded by their closest friends and families while they exchange the most beautiful handwritten vows. Garrett’s vows include lyrics from Rachel’s favorite songs! CRYING!
– Both of Garrett’s brother spoke in the wedding and spoke so eloquently about their love story.
– One of Rachel’s bridesmaids and one of Garrett’s groomsmen walked down the isle together singing and playing the guitar. YES to live music!
-It was raining the beginning of the ceremony and right before Rachel and Garrett kissed the sun came out, absolutely beaming!
Everything about this weekend was magical and I’m so blessed that I got to be a part of it. A little piece of advice that I give to all my couples is that there is no rule book to weddings. The most important thing is to do what fits YOU. If that means a 300 person wedding in your hometown DO IT. If that means an elopement in Iceland DO IT. Garrett and Rachel did exactly what fit them as a couple and I encourage you all to do the same.
Thank you Rachel & Garrett for including me in this day and for reminding us all what a wedding is truly supposed to feel like.
